TOWARDS A GLOBAL MOVEMENT

Arts and culture are not the panacea for environmental justice and other social change to happen at the scale and speed necessitated by realities of the world. Artivism is where art and activism unite to inspire and transform.

For decades, passionate changemakers all over the world have harnessed arts power to convey profound messages, spark critical conversations, and reshape our communities. The immersive experiences of the arts and culture, however, powerfully touch people’s hearts and move people to make sense of issues as well as inspire action.

This conference aims to be an immersive experience that nurtures the global Artivism movement.

CONNECTION | EXPLORATION | ACTION

THE SECOND GLOBAL ARTIVISM CONFERENCE 2025 aims to champion cultural activism and embrace the dynamic intersection of the arts and activism, highlighting the pivotal role of creative expression in advocating for societal and environmental issues.

Building on the success of the inaugural Global Artivism Conference in South Africa, the second Global Artivism Conference in 2025 promises to be a pivotal event. Held in Salvador, Brazil, it will convene activists from across the globe ahead of COP 30. This conference will be monumental, as it aligns with a critical moment: the submission deadline for new Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), which serve as roadmaps for national climate action. With climate leaders convening in the country and activists mobilizing for key protests, our conference will play a crucial role in preceding high-stakes discussions at COP 30.

Similar to last year, we expect to welcome over 1,000 participants, leaders, and organizations at the frontlines of defending democracy, combating climate change, and fighting corruption and discrimination. This conference will also highlight the power of arts and culture in amplifying the voices of historically marginalized communities.
